Whispers of the Forest

Whispers of the Forest is a solo journaling RPG of memory, masks, and the spirits of forgotten places (but can be potentially played with multiple people). 

You are either a Traveler, wandering through a forest drawn by unknown forces, or a Guardian, bound to protect and care for an ancient temple deep within a mystical woodland. The forest is alive — home to demons, spirits, and ancient guardians, many of whom harbor wounds from the past. Each wears a mask, and each encounter reveals something about the forest... and about yourself.

As you explore, you’ll document your journey through journal entries prompted by a standard deck of cards. Over the course of your walk, you’ll encounter four beings, each marking a phase of your journey and a deeper unveiling of the forest’s secrets. By the end, you will have crafted a mask of your own — for one day, you too will walk these woods as a spirit. 

What you’ll need to play:

• A standard deck of playing cards 
• A six-sided die (d6) 
• A journal or digital document to write in 
• A pen or drawing tool 
• Scissors
• Sheet of paper or piece of cardstock/cardboard
• Optionally colored pencils
